The Virginia Linked Workforce Showcase is a unique event created by Virginia Economic Bridge, Inc. as part of their Linked Workforce program. It was designed to showcase the capabilities of Southwestern Virginia companies in order to encourage intrastate commerce and facilitate the development of strategic alliances between companies in Southwestern Virginia and Northern Virginia in hopes of developing a model for urban/rural partnerships.

The Virginia Linked Workforce Showcase was the first event of its nature and proved to be very successful.  The event, held on July 15, 2003 in McLean, Virginia, was co-sponsored by Virginia Economic Bridge, Inc. and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.  The main focus of the event were the rotating roundtable discussions, which were designed to allow company representatives to meet and discuss their shared goals and identify common business areas that would allow for future business partnerships. Prior to the event, the ten Southwestern Virginia companies from information technology and engineering related industries were matched with more than twenty Northern Virginia companies based upon compatibility of industry sectors and services offered.

The Showcase included various notable speakers who attended the event to show their support of increased intrastate commerce and statewide business partnerships.  Those present included, Becky Coleman, Chief of Staff for Congressman Rick Boucher, Tim Kaine, Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, George Newstrom, Secretary of Technology, Congressman Tom Davis, and Dan Bannister, Former Chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
